Have you ever noticed how dependent we are on technology?

I know that's a cliche question to ask, but really think about it. Yesterday I wrapped the show and about 30 minutes I went back to listen to it. When I came to my page here on the site, nothing played, and the player just sat there. I threw some curse words out, fired some emails to BTR and sat here shaking my head. I later talked to Eric Thompson, who is the #2 SEO guy in the World. While we're talking, he's describing to me what Google and Yahoo(!) do. He was explaining that in 1/10th of a second, Google does millions of algorithms when you do a search on their engine. Then it spits out, for you, your request. In this modern day, we have machines at our fingertips that millions of dollars could not have bought not that long ago. We get frustrated if our computer takes ONE SECOND longer to perform a function than it normally does. How sad is that?

Speaking of ERIC, he'll be a guest on my show come Monday at 1pm CST. He truly knows what he's talking about as far as optimizing your website for search engines. He can also help you optimize things such as your BTR pages, etc. While I was speaking with him yesterday, he mentioned that he'd optimized HIS site to be #1 on a Google search. At 1st, I thought EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, but then he told me his site, so while we're talking I did the search. BAM! #1! I couldn't believe it. #1 out of MILLIONS! I look forward to having him on and am excited to do this special show. HE IS NOT BORING!! He ain't some run of the mill techno nerd that will put you to sleep. He's VERY sharp and engaging. Even if you don't need to optimize your website, this stuff is very intriquing and interesting. I never knew how a lot of the parts of search engines work. Did you know that less than 5% of all websites are optimized? Pretty scary when you think about how that's now a modern day monopoly, especially when the information is out there; it doesn't HAVE TO BE! JOIN THIS SHOW MONDAY!

One of the cool features of BLOG TALK RADIO is the media player that they give you code for to embed on your website. I've gotten a few emails asking me to put this on all the pages of the website. Can't figure out WHY more than one person has suggested that. I appreciate the idea, however I don't understand. I don't want to clutter up the site with the one media player for the latest show on every page when it works fine on the home page. I've made the links on the front page to be clickable so that the content opens in a new window, allowing you to listen
and view the site at the same time.

A judge on Tuesday denied Nick Bollea's request to change the conditions of his jail sentence because solitary confinement is causing him "unbearable anxiety."

Bollea is serving eight months in jail after pleading no contest to causing a crash that seriously injured his friend.

Officials said he is segregated from other inmates in the county jail in Clearwater because he is a minor, even though he was convicted in adult court.

On Monday, his attorneys sued the Pinellas County sheriff, accusing jail officials of violating his privacy.

The lawsuit said jailers improperly released to the media recordings of telephone calls between him and his parents and allowed a news crew to film them.

I want to say some things up front:

When I was 17, I did some VERY stupid things. Some were so stupid, to this day I can't believe I did them. I drank, drove, sped, stole, vandalized, etc. I was a PUNK KID! MANY a night someone should have gotten seriously injured. Luckily for me no one ever went to jail or the hospital. I was the kid always looking for something to get into. It was a phase that I went through, and eventually I saw the error of my ways. Nick is no different from many many many teens his age. Its very unfortunate for him to have been in that predicament. Did he mean to wreck the car and put his friend in a vegetative state? Of course not. Now...

HE DID PUT HIS FRIEND IN A VEGETATIVE STATE! If you listen to the audio that's all over the internet that I've put up there ^^^^^^^, you'll hear that there's absolutely no remorse, whatsoever, from either his father or himself. Its unfuriating. ALL they can think about is money. HOW? All his family can think is, "POOR NICK!" Well FU*K NICK! How about he got drunk and practically KILLED someone? Maybe try to further teach him this lesson. He is getting off very lightly. NO ONE likes being in jail and yes, I am sure it sucks being in solitary confinement, no doubt about that, but you know what just take it. It would have been nice to hear them on the phone talking about how he has really learned something from all of this and that from now on he is gonna fly straight, but no, they have to bash the very guy who is laid out in a coma. How someone can go to jail for being responsible for something so serious and then bash them is beyond my imagination. Pure evil. I truly believe the love of money is the basis of all evil. Its remarkable. Truly sad.

We now average between 2,500 and 5,000 unique visits per day, and soon, trust me, that is going to go WAY UP - yes, again. For whatever reason that hasn't translated to the forums yet. It'd sure be nice to have a full board of people talking and discussing topics. COME OVER.

I FINALLY have someone who is helping me with the website. I mentioned ERIC THOMPSON above. After speaking with him yesterday, I now know that this website should be generating advertisers. Its well worth advertising on. Between the show and the website, there are all walks of life, literally, coming here everyday. Its fun to watch this.
